I was born in very eastern part of Latvia in the town called Alūksne. In that time winters were real winters over there, and since my father was a former biathlete and sports teacher in local school, I started out as a skier and even succeeded at Latvian youth championships. Later on I tried basketball for several years, but the turn point was Riga orienteering championships in 2001 were I got 2nd place. I must mention that I didn’t train nor did I like orienteering by then, so I decided to give it a try. After two years, on 2003, I competed in my first Junior World Orienteering Championships in Estonia. On 2006 I made it to my first World Orienteering Championships in Denmark were I qualified for all finals. My so far best results in orienteering were achieved on year 2008 during World Orienteeing Championships in Czech Republic. I had started full time job about that time and changed my focus to athletics for next 3 years. During that time I realized that orienteering is my true passion and with beginning of year 2012 I chaned my ordinary life to what I am now – full time athlete. So here I am, regaining back and going forward.
